Why This Is Different

Most business assessments measure your operations. The BMC measures your operations and the owner psychology that shapes every decision you make. The sixth domain -- Owner Mindset -- is the hidden layer that affects all five others. A business with strong operations but a fearful owner will plateau. Every time.

Before You Begin

  • Be brutally honest. This assessment only works if you answer how things actually are, not how you wish they were. An inflated score teaches you nothing.
  • Think about the last 6 months. For each statement, recall specific decisions and behaviors. If you can't think of a concrete example, that's your answer.
  • When in doubt, rate lower. The instinct to round up is exactly the kind of self-deception the BMC is designed to surface.
  • Do this alone. Close your inbox. Put your phone down. Honest self-reflection doesn't happen while multitasking.

What To Do Next

  1. Look at the shape of your radar chart. Where are the spikes? Where are the valleys? The shape tells a story about how you're running your business.
  2. Pay special attention to Owner Mindset. If that domain scores low, it's likely dragging down everything else -- even the domains where your operations look solid on paper.
  3. Pick your lowest-scoring domain and go deep. Don't try to fix everything at once. Focus on the single domain that's creating the biggest bottleneck right now.
  4. Retake in 90 days. Put a calendar reminder. Progress is visible when you measure it.
